One hour and 20 minutes from Las Vegas is the sci-fi-themed, full-service, world-famous legal brothel Alien Cathouse, and the whole house is alien-themed, with lots of mystique surrounding it. In the 1970s, the Alien Cathouse was the Shamrock Brothel before Joe Richards purchased it in the 1980s and renamed it Kitty Kat Ranch. In 2014, Dennis Hoff purchased it, renamed it Alien Cathouse, and sold it a month before his death in 2018.
What’s Life in a Brothel Really Like?
(Amargosa Valley, NV) One hour and 20 minutes from Las Vegas is the sci-fi-themed, full-service, world-famous legal brothel Alien Cathouse, and the whole house is alien-themed, with lots of mystique surrounding it.
Many people wonder what life in a brothel is like, and it’s basically what you make of it. The Cosmic Kittens reserve what days they want to stay and check in and out like a hotel. There are no space aliens or weirdos, just hardworking women. They have to get hired, interview like any other job, pass an STD test, have a sheriff background check, get a work card that says courtesan (their work title), and apply four times a year for a license. At the Alien Cathouse, the ladies set their own prices, decide what clients they see and what services they offer, and are basically their own business owners. The Cosmic Kittens market themselves on social media to attract more clientele—it’s more than just an intimate act.
Inside the Alien Cathouse is a bar where men and women can stop in for a drink, chat with the ladies, play pool, hang out, and take $20 tours. The brothel has a gym so the ladies can keep fit, since most are there for at least two to six weeks, a content room for OnlyFans and to take pics to update the site, a massage room, a shower room for truckers and parties, a small toy shop at the front, eight private rooms where typically three to seven ladies reside and two VIP suites (aka Captain’s Quarters) for guests.
Of course, the Alien Cathouse, like all brothels, is heavily regulated. There are room rules: all ladies must be at least 21 years old, and pricing can only be discussed in rooms (not in lineup, online, or over the phone). The house hours are 10am to 4am, and the Cosmic Kittens are expected to be on site all day and available for lineups.
Things you wouldn’t expect are that the girls actually get along, and there’s a group family meal every day for dinner. Most of the clientele are on their best behavior and respectful, but they do need to be told to bring money and not to be shy.
“Because we are so close to Area 51, there is a lot of mystery attached to Alien Cathouse. But we follow all the rules, and our goal is for our Cosmic Kittens to always be happy and feel respected. Their job is out of this world for so many reasons,” says Owner Ray.
